Goblin Camp

Today, since we had wrapped up the Auntie Ethel questline last session, we picked a new path to pursue. We decided we wanted to go try to find the druid named Haslin. Off to the goblin camp we headed.

While walking across the bridge, we were interrupted by an ominous cutscene. We were introduced to three shadowy figures, and given some strange artifact.

I attempted to open it and get rid of it, but it appears to be bound to my character. I guess we shall see what this this artifact is or does! For now, it remains ominous.

Upon entering the Goblin Camp, there appeared to be a bard that was being forced to entertain the goblins. I thought I would troll him a bit, by sarcastically applauding his barely passable song. He immediately started bombing, and couldn’t recover. The goblins were less than impressed with his performance and took him away.

We continued to just explore the camp, talking to various goblins and gathering some items from them. We came across a broken wall, and tried to break in, but it just ended up angering all the goblins.

While wandering, Deb ran into a goblin that was challenging her to catch an owl bear cub. She accepted the challenge and wagered thirty gold. While in the middle of talking to the goblin, I got excited and I really wanted to pet the owl bear cub. This interrupted the challenge, but I intimidated the goblin and made her let the cub go. We hope it makes it to our camp!

We finally found a way inside, the front door. We found the Priestess Gut and talked to her. I rejected her offer to “mark” me. I’d had enough of being marked by creatures with malintent. After telling her, we’ll meet her for “help” (which I’m sure would also have lead to actually not helping), we left her. We decided we’d go see if we could rescue the bard.

We found the bard in a cage, and intimidated the goblin that was holding him captive to let him go. Volo, the author, artist and tastemaker, was quite thankful for us releasing him. He joined our camp. Next up, we wanted to find the druid, Halsin.

We found the room where Haslin was being held. After playing along with the goblins taunting him in bear form for a bit, we initiated, fought the goblins and freed Halsin. He explained that he needed help to rid the goblin leadership. If we could do it in a quiet way, it may keep the entire camp from turning on us. We agreed, and headed off to kill Priestess Gut.

Before doing this, we met a merchant in the Shattered Sanctum, and bought a couple of new items. The staff that Deb bought has additional fire damage and looks so cool.

After entering Gut’s room, we didn’t even bother speaking to her. She was alone in that room, so we initiated combat and killed her. We then went into her private quarters, killed Polma and looted her chambers.

As we explored, we walked down the stairs to find a large room with some intricate carving and wheels in the floor. As we approached, Karlach said something about the druid’s poem. This happened to be one of the items I convinced one of the goblins to give me. After reading the poem, and trying one possible solution, Deb pointed out how the light was casting on the floor. After moving the dark circles to that side, the door opened. It appears this is an access way to the Moonrise Towers!

I think the next part of our journey will be to finish the job of removing the goblin leadership.
